CNN / Health.com recently published an article on obesity in women and how it affects your health insurance medical insurance and how you receive medical treatment.



The article titled "The Surprising Reason Why Overweight Isn't Healthy" talks about how weighing more can have not only serious health complications (life diabetes and heart health concerns) but also:

• Increase Health Insurance Medical Insurance Premiums / Medical Coverage Costs
• Lower percentage of cancer detection / Treatment may be less effective
• Fertility Doctors are less likely to assist in pregnancy
• Increased misdiagnosis and inaccurate dosage recommendations for drugs

Regardless of Health Insurance Medical Insurance Plan Discrimination Is Real

These issues are stemming from 'fat discrimination' or 'weight bias' which affect how doctors diagnose a patient. This type of discrimination makes the doctor less patient and more prone to error.

While it is true that obesity causes a variety of health complications, disease and illness it also makes diagnosing through examinations much more difficult. Pelvic exams, checking heart rate, blood pressure or doing ultrasounds all are less accurate when a patient is obese or overweight.

If you feel uneasy about the physician you are seeing then you may need to visit another doctor for a second opinion as a precaution.
